The Bahamas is located in the Lucayan Archipelago of the West Indies in the Atlantic and is home to 88% of the archipelago’s population. With 16 individual islands spread over 100,000 square miles of clear oceans, it is a very popular tourist destination. With various tax advantages, it is also considered a tax haven.

Like many islands, The Bahamas have a tropical savanna climate with a hot and wet season and a warm and dry season. However, there is never a traditional winter climate due to the low latitude and tropical Gulf Stream. There is a seasonal rainfall where the wettest season is summer. However, the difference between the warmest and coldest months is about 7 °C.

There are over  1,350 species of flowering plants found in The Bahamas and ferns alone have 660 different species found on the islands. There are 46 native species including 7 turtles, and 14 different lizard species. Notable ones include the Inagua Slider sea turtle and the Exumas Pigs which is also a common attraction site.

Music genres often entail Rake-and-Scrape which is played with hand saws and is usually an upbeat tone. There is also Calypso music which is another upbeat style with a Afro-Caribbean touch. The most popular sports are basketball, cricket, soccer and a variety of watersports. The official language spoken in the country is English, however, Bahamian Creole is also spoken which is a common dialect. Due to their hot climate all year around, this allows for seafood to be a staple. The most common dish is conch.

A must-do while visiting the Bahamas is a Swim with the pigs of Exuma. They are adorable and about 20 of them want to tan and enjoy the ocean too! Next, Cable Beach is open to the public with 2.5 miles of sandy beach with clear and turquoise waters. For a nature experience like none other, The Garden of the Groves offers trails through beautiful greenery alongside cascading waterfalls and fountains. The largest shopping center on the islands is the Port Lucaya Marketplace. It has over 40 stores and also doubles as an entertainment space.

Good Eats
Although odd sounding, The Poop Deck has some of the freshest seafood on the island. It is located in Nassau. Next, The Fish Fry is also a great spot that offers local and authentic cuisine. For great Japanese food, Nobu is the place to go for high-end Japanese cuisine with a Bohemian twist. For some Italian food, Café Matisse has authentic food in a historic atmosphere.
